Privacy & Cookie Policy
This page explains how PG Carriers (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles your personal information when you visit pgcarriers.co.uk, request a quote, or otherwise contact us. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who is the data controller?
The controller responsible for your personal data is:
- PG Carriers
- 2 Beeby Way, Carlton, Bedford MK43 7LW, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom
- Phone: 07786 038568
- Email: info@pgcarriers.co.uk
If you have a question about this policy, want to exercise any of your rights, or wish to make a complaint, please use the contact details above.
2. What information we collect
We only collect personal data that you provide to us, or that is generated by your use of the site:
- Quote enquiries: when you complete the JotForm quote form, you typically provide your name, contact details (phone and/or email), the addresses or areas involved in the move, and a description of the items or service you need.
- Phone or email enquiries: any information you choose to share when contacting us directly.
- Site usage data: if you accept analytics cookies, we receive aggregated usage statistics (e.g. pages viewed, approximate location, device type). No individual profile is built.
- Cookie preference: a single first-party cookie storing the choices you made in our cookie banner.
3. Why we use it (lawful bases)
| Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR Article 6) |
|---|---|
| Replying to your quote request and arranging the work you've asked for | Steps to enter into a contract at your request, or our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries |
| Carrying out the move or courier job, including invoicing | Performance of the contract with you |
| Keeping records to meet our tax and accounting obligations | Legal obligation (HMRC requirements) |
| Storing your cookie preferences | Strictly necessary — required to operate the site as you've configured it |
| Loading optional embedded content (quote form, Google reviews) and any analytics | Your consent, given via the cookie banner — withdrawable at any time |
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing. We do use the following service providers, who act as processors on our behalf or as joint/independent controllers where indicated:
- JotForm Inc. — hosts the quote form and stores submissions on our behalf. JotForm operates internationally; data may be transferred outside the UK under appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).
- Elfsight Ltd. — provides the embedded Google reviews widget shown on the home page (only loaded if you accept marketing cookies).
- Google LLC — provider of Google Analytics (only loaded if you accept analytics cookies) and Google Reviews data shown via Elfsight. Google may transfer data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
- Our hosting provider and email provider — to host the website and deliver email correspondence.
- HMRC, accountants, or legal advisers — where we are legally required to disclose information.
5. How long we keep it
- Quote enquiries that don't lead to a job: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer records (jobs we've completed): at least 6 years from the end of the relevant tax year, in line with HMRC guidance.
- Cookie preference cookie: 6 months, after which we'll ask again.
- Server logs: typically 30 days, used only for security and troubleshooting.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be informed about how your data is used (this page).
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Have your data erased in certain circumstances.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the lawful basis (e.g. cookies).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. We'll respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority — the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
7. Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser. We group the cookies on this site into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always on; the rest only run if you give consent via our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie settings.
7.1 Categories we use
| Category | Purpose | Examples / Providers | Typical lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Remember your cookie choice; keep the site working. | pgc_consent (first-party) |
6 months |
| Functional | Loads the JotForm quote form so you can submit an enquiry without leaving the site. | JotForm | Session / up to 1 year |
| Analytics | Aggregated stats so we can improve the site. | Google Analytics (if enabled) | Up to 24 months |
| Marketing & embeds | Loads embedded Google reviews via the Elfsight widget. | Elfsight, Google | Up to 24 months |
7.2 Managing cookies in your browser
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser settings. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or delete cookies when you close the browser. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site may not work as intended.
8. International transfers
Some of the providers we use (notably JotForm, Google and Elfsight) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK GDPR — typically the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we apply industry-standard administrative and technical measures to protect personal data we hold. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Our services are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data about children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new tool that processes personal data. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent change. For material changes we'll display a notice on the home page.
12. Contact us
Questions, requests or complaints about this policy should be sent to info@pgcarriers.co.uk or by post to the address in section 1.
